You'll need

2 items
  • 2 shots (≈40 ml) espresso
  • 120 to 180 ml hot water

Weigh your dose and your water. A gram or two changes the cup, so a coffee scale beats eyeballing every time.

Method

3 steps · 4 minutes 0 of 3 done
  1. Pull a double shot of espresso.

  2. Top up with hot water to taste, start around 120 ml.

  3. Adding espresso to water (rather than the reverse) keeps the crema intact.

Barista tips

  • Less water = closer to straight espresso; more water = longer and milder.
