Air Fryer Teriyaki Salmon
Flaky salmon glazed in glossy homemade teriyaki.

Before You Start
Salmon in the air fryer is fast and forgiving, and it stays moist. A quick homemade teriyaki glaze, brushed on at the end, caramelises into a sweet, glossy coat. Weeknight dinner in under 15 minutes.
Instructions
-
1
Simmer the soy, honey, vinegar, garlic and ginger in a small pan. Stir in the cornflour slaked with 1 tbsp water and cook until thick and glossy. Cool slightly.
-
2
Pat the salmon dry and brush the tops with a little of the glaze.
-
3
Preheat the air fryer to 190°C / 375°F. Lay the salmon skin side down in a single layer.
-
4
Air fry for 8 to 11 minutes, depending on thickness, until it flakes easily.
-
5
Brush generously with the remaining teriyaki glaze in the last minute.
-
6
Scatter with sesame seeds and spring onion. Serve over rice.

♨️ Air fryer notes
- Cook at 190°C / 375°F and preheat for 2 to 3 minutes for the crispiest result.
- Keep everything in a single layer with space around each piece. Overcrowding steams food instead of crisping it, so cook in batches if your basket is small.
- Shake or turn halfway, and check a few minutes early, since air fryers cook faster than ovens and every model runs slightly differently.
💡 Cook's tips
- Glaze at the end, not the start. The sugar in teriyaki burns if it cooks the whole time.
- Check the salmon early. Thin fillets can be done in 8 minutes.
🔀 Make it your own
- Add a pinch of chilli flakes to the glaze.
- Use the same glaze on chicken thighs, adding cooking time.
📦 Storing & reheating
Airtight in the fridge for 2 days. Reheat gently at 160°C so it does not dry out. Lovely cold in a rice bowl.
❓ Frequently asked
What air fryer temperature for salmon?
190°C / 375°F for 8 to 11 minutes. It is ready when the flesh turns opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
Skin on or off?
Either works. Skin on protects the fillet and crisps nicely against the basket. Cook skin side down.
